How Does Restoration in Hungary Work?

We offer you the chance to fully restore and enjoy the car of your dreams, at a much lower cost than doing the same in the UK.  Anything is possible and the level of detailed restoration is only limited by your imagination and budget.  Laszlo is an obsessive perfectionist and does not and will not make do and mend. All restorations are meticulous in their detail and their quality. All our work is quality guaranteed and our transport and storage is fully insured. The cost of transport is offset by the lower hourly rate we charge due to the lower cost of living in Hungary.

  1. We will assess your vehicle for suitability for full or partial restoration.
  2. We will provide a very honest assessment of the suitability and a rough guide cost for restoration.
  3. Once an agreed budget and initial contract is confirmed we will supply a potential start date.
  4. Your car will be transported to Hungary for full restoration including, engine, fabrication and bodywork.
  5. We will project manage and regularly report back to you with pictures, video and phone calls to review our progress.
  6. Any unexpected issues (which there always is with classic!) we will make you fully aware of before we continue.
  7. You are welcome to come and visit your car by arrangement. Budapest is 2 hours away and £110 return.
  8. On completion, your car is QA assessed and snagged listed and corrected which we do need you to be available for.
  9. The finished restored car can be delivered back to you or you can drive back on a great 3 day European road trip!
  10. Please note if you are wanting to restore a car purely for profit and resale it is unlikely we can help you.

What Our Clients Are Saying

"Laszlo has performed the most amazing bare metal nuts and bolts restoration on my Jaguar XJS Lister. His talented ability to refabricate from scratch, metal panels that are no longer available has kept the project moving and at a very reasonable cost. It is rare to find a restorer who can weld, fabricate and also strip refurbish the engine and all of the mechanicals on the car."

"Top of the range work, can turn his hand to anything and everything is 110% perfect. - Mark Fruedenhauf, Cheshire UK'

"Laszlo did a great job on my Morris 1000, gave a reasonable quote, then booked in for some excellent fabrication work on basically a whole front end and door posts of my Morris and numerous other welding repairs at workshop - the car now rescued, looks original again. Looking at his other excellent work and projects, like the Jag and Issetta, my Morris was a walk in the park! If you need a restoration job doing then look no further than The Classic Mechanic - D. Haycock UK"
